Accessing a challan website simply means checking out the government or municipality website to retrieve one's traffic fines, vehicle violation dues, or some other form of similar due. Here's an idea as to how someone could use it:





1. Visit Website
 Open your internet browser and surf into the website for challans at the governmental level or district/municipal level for the concerned province and/or country.
Example - The challan site for traffic violation in India would be echallan.parivahan.gov.in

 2. Find Challan Option
On the home page of the website, search for one of the options as "Pay Challan" or "Check Challan Status" or "Traffic Violation Payment".

 3. Provide the Following Details
Generally, the system will request one or all of the details for further processing such as:
Vehicle Registration Number
Challan Number
Driving License Number
Mobile Number: which is mandatory in case OTP-based login is in place, else it can be provided on optional basis,

4. Verify Information
Once all the above details are filled up, the information related to the challan by the user will be prompted along with:
The type of violation,
The amount for paying the fine, date and address of that offense,


5. Payment
If it's a challan payment
 Select any one of the payment options from credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI.
 Payment process is finalized.
You will get a receipt number or confirmation number for the payment typically.

 6. Download or Print Receipt
 Once paid, you could download or print the receipt for future use.


7. Check Status (Optional)
 If you are checking challan status, you can see how much of an amount is pending as fines.
You can also see your payments.

Sections (sections) that are levied on the Motor Challan, is subject to the nature of offense. Such sections are made liable in accordance with the nature of offense. These sections are called upon under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988and other similar enactments. Some common offenses and the corresponding sections are as follows:

General Offenses and Corresponding Sections


1. Helmet Nahi Pehna (Two-Wheeler)
Section: 129 and 194D
Good: 500-1,000 with suspension of driving license may be done.
Seat Belt Nahi Lagana (Four-Wheeler)
Section: 194B
Bail: 1,000


3. Over-Speeding
Section: 112 and 183
Bail: 1,000-2,000 (Light vehicles); 2,000-4,000 (Heavy Vehicles)


4. Signal Todna (Red Light Jumping)
Section: 119 and 177
Bail: 1,000-5,000


5. Drink and Drive
Section: 185
Bail: 10,000 or 6 months in jail; 15,000 or 2 years in jail.


6. Overloading
Section: 113 and 114
Punishment: 20,000 + 2,000 per ton more than the normal weight.


7. Driving Without Driving License Gaadi Chalana- 181 - 5,000
8. Driving Without Vehicle Insurance Chalana- Section 196 - 2,000 on first offense and 4,000 on later offenses


9. Not Showing Pollution Certificate Nahi Dikhana- Section 190(2) - 10,000


10. Illegal Parking- Section 122 and 177 - 500-1,000


11. Wrong Side Driving- Section 184C - 5,000 or imprisonment.
